Upon your arrival

Begin your checklist as soon as you approach the house. From the parking lot or street, it is indeed possible to discover some important clues. Just stand in front of the building and look. Observe the roof line.

 Evaluate if it is straight or if it seems to sag. A roof that does not appear straight can be indicative of structural problems. Also, try to see if the roof has visible anomalies, uneven surfaces or anything else. If you notice something, do not hesitate to dig deeper into the question when inspecting the house. Finally, take a good look at the roof shingles and see if some are lifting or missing. Around the house

During your visit, explore the outside and go around the house. Several indicators can be observed, thanks to a review of exterior facades. So, add them to your checklist! Watch the foundations carefully. If you notice any damage or cracks, this will be something to check when inspecting the house. These can be a sign of significant problems in the structure of the property and or represent a risk of water infiltration. Do the same exercise with the siding and masonry. Pay particular attention to cracks, breaks and unexplained stains. These items should definitely be on your checklist because they indicate that something is wrong.
